Autumn has arrived in the alpine bringing fall colors and cold winds. With imminent snow in the coming forecast and winter weather crashing down on the Cascades, it seems the window or easy entry is narrowing.
Felt like I was in a fairytale walking in the rain past these old farmhouses 🌲
What was interesting though was what seemed to be something so completely out of place on the roofs of some of these houses. Sitting all by itself way up in the middle of a large roof was a little succulent in a tiny pot.
@_lisl_lotte_ shared that according to ancient lore, these succulents called “hauswurz” were placed on the roofs of houses for protection from demons and lightning strikes.
As if succulents weren’t already cool enough
Such. A. Blue. Lake! This lake is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever laid my eyes on. It was fun to hang out by the shore before we hiked up above it. Photos from the view looking down coming soon! 🎉
