Shortly after I finished drafting this edit the file corrupted and I lost the project completely. Yay for technology.
This is a spot I keep returning to in the hope that conditions and subjects align harmoniously. This was an okay sunset, but I was a bigger fan of the fellow on the wall and no cars clogging the travel lanes. The edit came out crisper than I normally aim for or like to go these days, but all told it was an idea with a start and finish, even if the processing falls a flat.
Obviously, I have a soft spot for vintage California aesthetics, a return to the old beach town daze, crushed blacks and pastel chroma. A concept I hope to one day furnish into a proper photo book, an essay on classic beach towns along the California coast. I'm realizing that goals like this are what make photography most impactful, building and creating something from a basic idea, seeing where they lead and how they evolve.
