This is your standard European garden spider. Common yes, but creepy when magnified😯
This was shot using a Sigma 105mm OS HSM macro lens. Such a versatile peoce of glass in which I never leave the house without it!
Although this is my first ever macro photograph, I'll say that having an solid support like a tripod, GorillaPod or something sturdy is an absolute must for this style of shooting.
Top tip: keep your stops low, f.11 onwards, although not letting a lot of light through (this is where the tripod comes in) it allows for a decent focal area. Maybe I should have stopped lower as you can see the spiders front legs are out of focus!
Plus, insects are particularly good at staying still, so long exposures come out very sharp.
