Slowly coming to the realization that last weekend was probably my last lake swim of the year ☹️ But on the bright side it's almost ski season!!

#Throwback to my first Sierra Nevada experience. We were noobs. Story time! 🏕 Prior to this trip on the photo, our only outdoor/camping experience was Havasu Falls. Before that, a random drive up to Yosemite then back, 5 years prior. It was everyone’s first. Everyone in this photo. None of us were born here, we all arrived in this country at different stages of our lives from different countries, so all of us were experiencing something completely new, from the activity to the actual land. I didn’t know anything about distances to hike or elevation gains/losses. Post Havasu, I wanted to backpack more. Researched and found a camp to walk to! Up north, in Point Reyes National Seashore. And as a “training experience”, I thought we’d all visit Emerald Lake in Sequoia National Park, a park I’ve been to once before this trip. PLUS it’s closer than PRNS. Yes, you read that right.. I thought the Sierra Nevada would be a great training ground/shakedown for a coastal backpacking trip. Oh what a blooper that was! I remember how slow we were hiking up an elevation. How much huffing & puffing I was doing. How unfamiliar this all were. But also how exhilarating! The view from the Watchman Tower was gorgeous. So many lakes to gawk at along the way. I saw my first deer with antlers! (I unzipped our tent in the morning and there it was, we were face to face, 2 feet away — helluva good morning!). Needless to say, we breezed through our Point Reyes trip a month later 😅 🏕 2008 Emerald Lake — Land of the Western Mono/ Sequoia National Park . #tbt #throwbackthursday #westernmono #emeraldlake #sequoianationalpark #alpinelake #findyourpark #unlikelyhikers #brownpeoplecamping #visitCalifornia #backpackingcalifornia #nationalpark #nationalparkgeek #parkchat #optoutside #hiking #backpacking #filipinosonthetrail #sierranevada #outdoorwomen #womenwhohike #latinasoutdoor #sheexplores

In the past, whenever someone would mention Utah, my eyes would glaze over and I’d tune out. The only thing that would come to mind was Mormonism and strange alcohol laws. Man, was I naive!?! Turns out, Utah is a treasure trove of adventure and unexpected landscapes; and now, one of my favorite places to visit. . . . #utah #visitutah #capitolreefnationalpark #capitolreef #nps #findyourpark #nationalparkservice #explore #travel #roadtrip #seetheworld #getoutside #optoutside #moody #clouds #cloudy #agameoftones #redcanyon #redrocks #sandstone #picoftheday #shotoniphone #takemeback #tbt #landscapephotography #isthismars #hubs_united #getoutthere #thegreatoutdoors

Appreciation post for my jerb. I've been feeling super grateful lately, especially when I'm snorkeling down the Salmon River looking for Spring-Chinook (King Salmon) aka "Springers". I think to myself when I have a moment snorkeling, hiking, or sitting down during lunch by a waterfall: "I'm getting paid for this." It is so surreal... and I'm so so happy and grateful that I have this opportunity. . . From June - August I worked on the same creek, and trust me I was freaking bored towards the end. However, that creek introduced me to my first scorpion, an endangered owl that altered logging in the #PNW forever (Photo 5), and we found the largest Pacific Giant Salamander ever recorded in the Klamath National Forest around 13 inches (33 cm for my international friends)! Now, we are doing Chinook spawning surveys two days a week and the other two days we are hiking to ponds, lakes, and meadows looking for amphibians until Fall-Chinook spawning begins, and then we will snorkel/wade through the Salmon/Scott rivers looking for Chinook redds (salmon nests) and the fish themselves. We will do this till the season and my job ends in late November. . . Photo 1: Griffin on a lunch break swim in a Russian Wilderness lake. Photo 2: Telephone Lake. Photo 3: wilderness lake. Photo 4: coworker Jon gazing at Ruffey Lake. Photo 5: Northern Spotted Owl. Photo 6: Pacific Giant Salamander. Climb! Are you climbing?! I feel like I have been climbing not only mountains but in life. Hard work pays off my friends. It has been for me. It's not without struggle because I have had more than my fair share but the lows are what make the highs so much better. #climbmountains #running #mountaingirls #mountainrunning #adventuretime #trailrunning #ultrarunners #trainhard #optoutside #runnersofinstagram #happyplace #trailandkale #runnersworld #optoutsideeveryday #getoutside #asdt #keepitwild #wmwranglers #playoutside #skyemountainco #staystrong

Hello everyone! My name is Jacob Lovaas and I happen to live in an amazing location on our Earth. Alaska has always amazed me and as soon as I got my hands on a drone it gives me views, I could only imagine. These crazy pictures I would like to share with everyone, and I hope you all enjoy! 🌲 This photo was all luck. While exploring north of Delta Junction, I randomly decided to fly my drone and I was amazed when I saw these bison in my phone screen. 🌲 #alaska #ak #alaskalife #dronealaska #droneshots #dronelife #mavic #mavic2 #mavic2pro #travelalaaka #explorealaska #sharealaska #thelastfronteir #dronephotography #dronelandscape #droneanimal #droneworld #dronegram #dronepilot #naturealaska #rei1440project #optoutside #moosejawmaddness #rei #goatworthy #birdseyeview

Mirror Lake wasn’t quite Mirror Meadow yet, but it was well on its way! Half Dome is spectacular from here and you can ride your bike nearly the whole way up... the tootsies were in need of a break.

My dog is my best friend. It's weird to say that - I know. But he's been my biggest responsibility for 6 year now (6 year to be exact in October)! In 6 years we have lived in 8 houses, road tripped many gas tanks away. We have slept in tents, hotels, and under the stars. We have hiked literally hundreds of kms, and summited handfuls of mountains. There has been times where I've been angry with him, and vice versa haha. And his all time favorite thing to do is either hike with me, or play fight with me. Oddly enough the last conversation I ever had with my dad was about my dog 🤷😂 and then Cassius was there with me throughout that whole chapter of my life. And so many more. He is quite sick right now, and tomorrow we get his test results. I feel like I'm a crazy dog mom, but my heart hurts for him. We cuddle every chance I can right now. And my only concern and most of my daily thoughts at the moment are about Cassius and his health. I love this awesome dude so ridiculously much❤️ - - - - - #dog #bestfriend #doggo #labxcollie #mountains #hike #hiking #mountainbiking #pet #love #adventure #adventuredog #laugh #ruffwear #alberta #hikealberta #explorealberta #gopro #goprohero #summertime #rockymountains #wander #explore #optoutside #bewild #memories #tbt #wilderness #woodsexplorer

Going through a rough season of life like nobodies biz lately. It’s ok for me to admit that I’m just not doing so hot! Embracing a ton of change and reminiscing on a seriously epic summer filled with some of the most beautiful hikes I’ve ever done. Can’t wait to get back out there again bc that is where my soul gets filled up. First, gotta take care of my lil self and that means more rest than I’d like to be doing. Just here to say that life isn’t all gumdrops and rainbows all the time and it’s okay to feel otherwise because I believe admitting and being somewhat open about it (atleast to some person that you trust) helps us start to move through it. 🦋

10 days into living on my own, so far so good. Ever since I graduated college roughly 2 years ago, I never had a consistent routine. I always went with the flow, did my own thing without considering setting up a routine. This resulted in unhealthy habits, bad mentality, some mental issues like anxiety and depression, and so on and so forth. Since I've moved, I made a promise that I would develop a healthy lifestyle. Eating healthier, exercising on a regular basis, meditate, living simply and learning to tune out the noise and listen to my thoughts and God's. Altho I haven't made an effort to meet new people, it feels great to be by myself. Learning to enjoy my own presence. It helped me realize that life doesn't have to be complicated to make it a good one. You don't need the fanciest of things, no need to resort to alcohol, drugs or toxic behavior, etc, to make it thru life. And it's unfortunate that many don't recognize that. Anyway, A part of my routine is going to a local park and watching the sunset. I've been there about 5 times now, and it's absolutely beautiful and calming. Nothing complicated to it. Just sitting on a rock watching the sunset can go a long way 🌄. I know my Instagram hasn't been getting the attention it used to get (maybe the new Instagram algorithm is to blame, maybe my content isn't the greatest, who knows), but it's not going to stop me from creating content that others may find relevant. Adventures are coming soon. And maybe a new camera 🤷- - - #coloradotography #coloradogram #coloradolife #Colorado #coloradoinstagram
